Hello world!

In the early days of computing, “hello world” was understood to be an exercise in creating output to any device with the words “hello world.”  Generally written in assembly language or some other non-obvious computer language, it was a simple exercise to prove that you got the channel open and were, indeed, able to type text.  Hello, world!  (Hi, out there!  If you go to Google Images and search for “hello world” you’ll see a lot of cool stuff.)
